Joby McKenzie, Ph.D.
Consultant
Joby joined the Boston Consulting Group's Toronto office as a Summer Consultant in 2007 and returned as a Consultant in January 2009. Since joining BCG, Joby's experience has been primary in the health care sector. She has worked with several global pharmaceutical companies in a range of cases from increasing R&D efficiency to creating a business-to-business strategy.
Before joining the firm, Joby completed her MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Joby earned her PhD from the University of Toronto in Medical Genetics, specializing in hematopoietic stem cell research. Prior to this education, she played professional basketball in Europe and for the Canadian national team. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University.

Ravi completed his MBA at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management with high distinction, and earned an honours degree in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo. During his summer at BCG in 2007, Ravi helped a Canadian bank streamline their risk management policies and rationalize their product mix. Since his return to BCG in 2008, Ravi has defined the retail operating model for a leading North American retail bank, and redesigned the commercial sales model for a major Canadian bank. Recently, Ravi defined the distribution strategy for a US regional bank, and then aligned their senior organizational structure . Ravi is intrigued by the science of poker, appreciates old world wines, and enjoys tinkering with consumer electronics.

Steve completed an MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business, a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Calgary, and is a CFA Charterholder. He joined as a summer consultant in 2009 and returned to a full-time position in 2009. During his summer with BCG, Steve worked for a Canadian retailer helping to develop a strategy that would address the needs of the various Canadian customer segments more effectively. He has prior experience at The Bank of Nova Scotia leading a customer analytics team within international credit cards, and at Air Canada and Aeroplan, where he started a CRM team and an internal consulting team. Outside of work, Steve is very passionate about golf, maintaining a handicap of 3, and when he's not on the links, he is looking to travel somewhere exotic or sample some spicy foreign food.
Vinay Shandal

Vinay obtained an LL.M. from Cambridge University and an LL.B. and a B.C.L. from McGill University. He practiced law in the New York offices of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, focusing primarily on mergers and acquisitions. He also clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada. Vinay joined BCG in the summer of 2009 and is interested in becoming involved with the consumer products, financial institutions, public sector and social impact practice areas. Outside of the office, Vinay enjoys cycling and yoga.

He rejoined the firm in the fall of 2008 after spending the summer of 2007 in BCG's New York office, where he helped develop a growth strategy in financial services for a leading business services company. Since joining the Toronto office.
Yvan's case experience has included: helping to design a strategy for a government entity seeking to strengthen its financial performance and socioeconomic impact, identifying growth opportunities in the Canadian energy sector and co-designing a leadership and cultural transformation at a North American financial institution.

Darrel Berry
Darrel Berry is the COO and Managing Partner of the Chelsea Consulting Group, a strategic IT and Business consulting company specializing in Outsourcing and Software as a Service. He is widely regarded as an expert in Outsourcing and Managed Services and has advised a number of companies on outsourcing strategy and implementation.

Darrel has a unique blend of hands on experience in a number of key areas – outsourcing, data centre and IT operations, and delivery management. He has led clients through difficult and challenging transitions from mergers and acquisitions, divestitures right up to building and making the transition to new IT paradigms.
With a strong focus on outsourcing / managed services and IT processes, Darrel has led companies in the set-up and ongoing management of outsourcing services and has implemented standards in areas such as ITSM, Cobit, ISO and Sarbanes Oxley compliance. Ada graduated from the Bachelor of Applied Science and Engineering (Engineering Science) program at the University of Toronto specializing in Biomedical Engineering. In 2007, she co-founded a pro-bono consulting organization named Endeavor Volunteer Consulting Network and have since trained over 100 volunteers to help nearly 20 non-profit / charitable organizations in the GTA region. After graduation, she joined Deloitte Consulting, working on a variety of projects that span multiple industries, including healthcare, criminal justice system, financial services, consumer products, and insurance. Ada has also served on various not-for-profit boards including the Canadian Hearing Society Community Development Board and the Sunnybrook New Leaders Board. Previously, she served as Co-President for the University of Toronto Consulting Association (UTCA) and as a pro-bono consultant for their Volunteer Consulting Group. Ada has also volunteered for Global Youth Network and travelled to Peru in the summer of 2007 for a volunteer mission to help with community development projects and justice education.

Adam Laiken is a Manager in Deloitte's Financial Advisory group, with a focus on Performance Enhancement and Reorganization Services. Adam's project experience includes financial and operational analysis with related market and corporate strategy implications, commercial due diligence, post-merger integration and 100-day planning support services; cash flow modeling and management services; credit risk assessment services; traditional insolvency related engagements, merger and acquisition due diligence and investigation and correction of financial reporting anomalies. Adam is also responsible for Financial Advisory's Troubled Company Tracking initiative.
Prior to Financial Advisory, Adam's professional career was in the field of auditing at another of the Big Four Accounting Firms. During his final year in the audit practice, he worked on one of the firm's largest clients, as a key senior member of the engagement team.
Adam is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV). He has his Master of Accounting (MAcc) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Waterloo.

Andrea currently works for the Corporate Strategy Consulting Practice at Deloitte. She joined the firm in 2010 and she has also gained industry experience in financial services working at the Corporate Development Department of CIBC. She graduated in 2008 from the University of Pennsylvania with a major in Chemical Engineering and a Minor in Economics. On her free time, Andrea enjoys volunteering in non-profit consulting and currently serves as a Subject Matter Expert for the Volunteer Consulting Group at the University of Toronto.

Jennifer is a Senior Manager within the Financial Advisory, Performance Enhancement and Restructuring practice. She has over 10 years of experience working in marketing and competitive strategy. Most recently, Jennifer has worked in various marketing functions and take to- market product lead roles, in addition to 100-day strategic planning for a large Canadian telecom company. While in the telecom industry, Jennifer was responsible for the fastest take to market product launch for the WiMAX branded product line.
Her industry experience includes a large US telecom company in Asia/ Pacific where she worked in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Treasury functions; a large US consumer electronics company in Germany; and a large US entertainment company in Canada in various marketing functions. In addition to her private work, Jennifer has worked with large international aid organizations in developing the strategic plan focused on restructuring and enhancing the performance of the microfinance institutions in Azerbaijan.

Justin is a Business Analyst at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services and recently joined the firm in 2010. Prior to Deloitte, Justin worked as a computer programmer developing optimization models for use in chemistry or chemical engineering. He also worked for 3 years at a private research institute developing treatments for neurological disorders (specifically Epilepsy and Alzheimer's Disease). Most recently, he worked in the financial industry developing optimization systems for large investment trading accounts.
Justin holds a Computer Science background from University of Waterloo and a BEng from the University of Guelph. Recently, He completed his MASc with the Centre for Management of Technology and Entrepreneurship (in the department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry) at the University of Toronto. Vivek is a consultant with Monitor Group. He advises clients primarily in the consumer and industrial products industries, but has recently worked in healthcare, technology and financial services as well. Brian Bobechko, MSc
Senior Consultant
Mr. Brian Bobechko is a Senior Consultant with SHI Consulting. He has extensive experience in technology evaluation, market assessments, strategic planning, regional development, and business case creation. Most recently, Brian has worked strategy development and business planning for: an innovative University-based research clearing-house model; a not-for-profit disease foundation; a disease-focused Network of the Networks of Centres of Excellence; a major University-based Research Centre; and the development of an Ontario clinical trials network. He is currently developing business plans for private investors in the Middle East. Brian's experience with SHI has also involved market research and technology assessments for Top 10 pharmaceutical companies, devising a sustainability strategy and partnership plan for a major Canadian genomics research project, contributing to a multi-year, regional government innovation strategy in PEI, and facilitating a pan-Canadian workshop on chronic disease. His in-depth knowledge of organizational strategy, management planning, and process optimization are a valuable contribution to the team.
Prior to joining SHI Consulting, Brian worked in academia, the pharmaceutical industry and international biotechnology, and served as the Managing Director for the Blueprint Initiative, a Singapore-based bioinformatics company focused on biomolecular interaction data research and development. Brian holds an MSc from the University of Toronto in developmental neuroscience.
Charles Khoury

Charles Khoury is a Consultant with SHI Consulting. Charles has notable experience in opportunity valuation and business planning. He has worked with leading Ontario hospitals in a variety of engagements, including developing a business case for the establishment of a new rehabilitation program, and creating a framework for assessing the value of an associated research institute. Currently, Charles is working with a regional development corporation to plan for the establishment of a life sciences cluster within an agricultural province of Saudi Arabia. In addition to the development of cluster-level strategy, this engagement will include the identification, prioritization and valuation of specific investments in the healthcare sector to drive economic growth and attract private investment to the region.
Prior to joining SHI Consulting, Charles worked for a multinational global leader where he was responsible for planning and performance management within the Finance division. He also gained experience in strategy consulting within the life sciences sector from his work with The Mensa Process, out of New York City. Charles earned his MSc in Medical Genetics and Microbiology from the University of Toronto; the focus of his research was in the field of virology. Charles also earned an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, majoring in Strategy and Marketing.

Ardalan Shojaei

Ardalan earned an MBA at the Rotman School of Management, and also holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Toronto. Joining the firm in September of 2008, he has had extensive experience working with Canadian and US clients in the medical and pharmaceutical industry. His experience includes qualitative market research, brand launch strategy, sales force effectiveness and strategy, forecasting, marketing mix, and incentive compensation design and administration. Outside of work, Ardalan is passionate about traveling, history, and The Office TV series. Prior to joining ZS Associates, Ardalan worked in the Technology Development group of Actel Corporation based in Silicon Valley, and spent several summers as a marketing analyst at Petro-Canada.

Judith earned her Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto, and joined ZS Associates as an Associate in 2009. Since then, she has served clients across Canada, the U.S. and Europe, primarily in marketing services, including forecasting, market research and marketing strategy. In the past, Judith has worked in integration engineering for a large European energy company, and in global marketing operations in telecommunications. She has also participated in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
Judith currently serves on the executive team at Endeavour Consulting, a volunteer consulting group which provides management consulting to non-profits in Toronto. In her spare time, Judith enjoys playing piano, snowboarding, running and travelling.

Andy joined Lumira Capital in January of 2010 as an analyst in the Toronto office, where he performs a variety of strategic, financial, operational, and business due diligence and analyses on both public and private companies. In addition, he works on various US and Canadian fundraising and research initiatives.
Prior to joining Lumira, Andy worked as an analyst for the MaRS Discovery District's Business Mentorship and Entrepreneurship Program, where he conducted market research and helped early-stage companies in the life sciences, information technology, engineering, and clean technology sectors understand and access private and government-sponsored sources of capital. He was also a project manager for HTX - The Health Technology Exchange, has worked in education, and acted as a consultant for both private and public institutions.
Andy holds a PhD in Biology from Dalhousie University, where his thesis work focused on nuclear transplantation and epigenetic regulation. He also holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, which he attended with support from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. While there, his studies focused on finance and strategy relating to the health sector, and he worked with members of the University's technology transfer office. He volunteers as a mentor for the Canadian Young Business Foundation and has lectured on venture finance at Ivey.

Christy Chen, Ph.D.
Economist, Bank of Montreal
Christy Chen is an economist on the BMO Capital Markets' Economics Research team. She analyzes Canadian industries, closely monitors credit quality, and develops quantitative forecasting models for the Canadian financial product market. Christy also contributes to the monthly publication, The Goods, which highlights recent developments and forecasts for key commodities.
Prior joining the Economics Department, Christy worked with BMO's risk management group, developing econometric models to control credit risk in the bank's portfolios. And, before working on Bay Street, she taught economics courses at the University of Toronto and University of Victoria.
Christy earned a PhD in Economics from the University of Victoria, and also holds a Financial Risk Manager designation.

Darren Lafreniere is the Director of the Ivey Consulting Project and a Lecturer at the Richard Ivey School of Business. He is also the owner of Final Round Prep, a company that provides professional recruiting support to students who wish to pursue careers in the Management Consulting industry.
Prior to his current role, Darren gained a wealth of experience in both the entrepreneurial and corporate environments; as the owner/ operator of an auto parts company, he marketed and sold high performance aftermarket parts to customers across North America, and as a Management Consultant, he worked with A.T. Kearney consulting clients across 7 major industries on various strategic issues including logistics optimization, organizational restructuring and operational cost reduction.
Darren has an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business and a BA from the University of Manitoba.
David Colcleugh
Dave Colcleugh graduated from the University of Toronto with a BASc, MASc and PhD in Chemical Engineering, followed by postdoctoral studies at Cambridge University.
In 1963 Dave joined DuPont Canada Inc. as a research engineer and advanced through many varied functional, business and leadership roles. In 1996 he became President of DuPont Asia-Pacific, returning to become President, CEO, and Chairman of DuPont Canada Inc. in 1997.
Upon retirement in 2003 Dave has served on a number of Boards of Directors at companies and non-profit institutions. His interest in the education of young minds has brought him to the University of Toronto's Faculty of Engineering, where he will share his knowledge and expertise through a course ... called "Leadership and Leading in Groups and Organizations."

Joseph C. Paradi, Ph.D.
Director, Centre for Management of Technology and Entrepreneurship
Dr. Paradi was the founder of Dataline Inc. in 1968. The company was financed with a $2.7 million dollar public underwriting of shares (1969). The Company grew from there to a 25 million dollar, large Canadian computer services company. The system and network delivered sub-second response to stock traders, bankers, investment managers and others who needed instant information. Dr. Paradi sold the company to a U.S. firm in late 1987 and left in January 1989 after 20 years at the helm and joined the University of Toronto as a Professor.
He also is the founder of Parcorp Ltd., a company started for the purpose of investing in, nurturing and facilitating the growth of small Canadian high tech companies. He has also started several other companies: a specialized technology consulting firm; two firms based on intellectual properties developed at the University of Toronto (DesignCo Inc. and Translucent Technologies Inc.); and a joint venture in Hungary.
Professor Paradi holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Toronto, he is a member of professional engineers in Ontario, The Metropolitan Toronto Board of Trade, Information Industry Association of the U.S and former chairman of the Canadian Association of Data Processing Organisations.
Patrick Dunn

Patrick Dunn is an experienced researcher and consultant, with a strong history of bringing consumer and business insights to clients. With a wide range of global project experience, Patrick is fully versed in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Patrick started his career with industry-leading organizations such as Xerox and Coca-cola in sales and marketing roles.
Following a lifelong passion for Asian history and culture, Patrick moved to Japan in 2002 to continue his career as a consultant with Selnate Consulting, which focused on development of hard and soft executive skills for firms such as Hitachi, Pioneer, and Chugai Pharmaceutical. In 2005, Patrick joined Japan Market Intelligence (JMI), a full-service market research consultancy, with a focus on providing market entry and refinement strategies for international clients. Clients ranged across business-to-business and business-to-consumer, with diverse objectives including competitive intelligence, branding, customer segmentation, market sizing, usage and attitude, customer satisfaction tracking, and more. During his tenure in Tokyo, he was also a member on a winning team of the JMEC (Japan Market Expansion Competition), a business plan and consulting competition.
Returning to Canada in 2007, Patrick has continued his career in market research at MarketProbe, where he was responsible for customer experience and engagement projects for Fortune 1000 clients. He founded Spyglass Market Intelligence in 2009. Spyglass MI is a market research consultancy providing research insights to drive strategic decision-making, with a focus on Asian and international markets.
Patrick has been involved with the Endeavour Volunteer Consulting for Non-Profits since 2008, and has successfully completed a project as engagement manager for the Canadian Hearing Society. Patrick holds an MBA from the University of Liverpool, and a Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University. He is currently working toward Certified Marketing Research Professional (CMRP) designation (expected 2010).

Stefan Larson
Stefan Larson is a Former Associate Principal in the Toronto office of McKinsey & Company. Stefan first joined the firm in 2003 as a summer associate and has worked in pharmaceuticals, financial services, telecom, and energy. He was a core member of the Nuclear Energy Service Line and Global Organization Practice. Stefan has a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Stanford University and a M.Sc. in Medical Genetics from the University of Toronto.
Yuri Lawryshyn, Ph.D.
Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry Department at University of Toronto
Yuri Lawryshyn completed a Ph.D. degree in engineering at the University of Toronto specializing in numerical modeling and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
After graduation, Yuri worked in a number of industries, including pulp and paper, health care and environmental, applying CFD for research and product development purposes. Upon joining Trojan Technologies Inc., Yuri established a CFD practice and developed models to simulate UV reactor performance. He then led the development of the Trojan Swift product line -
Trojan's first large scale UV reactor for drinking water treatment.
Afterwards, Yuri took on the roles of Market Manager for the Municipal Wastewater sector and Technical Sales Manager for Europe. Yuri completed an MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business in 2002 and completed a Financial Engineering diploma from the Schulich School of Business. He joined the faculty in the Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry Department at University of Toronto in 2007.
Zayna Khayat, Ph.D.

Group (BCG), a global management consulting firm that helps clients across all industries solve strategic and management
issues across a range of business topics. Since joining BCG in 2001, Zayna has helped for-profit and not-for-profit clients in a
variety of sectors including telecom, financial services, aviation, and health care solve diverse business issues including
strategy and organizational re-design. Zayna was a core member of BCG’s Health Care practice where her clients include
biopharmaceutical companies, health insurers, medical device companies, etc.. She was also a core member of BCG’s
Organization Practice where she has expertise in organizational re-design. At BCG, Dr. Khayat was actively involved with the
firm’s Women’s Initiative and Community Investment Committee.
Prior to joining BCG, Zayna earned her Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Toronto / Hospital for Sick Children
where she was a scholar of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, studying how insulin and exercise regulate blood
glucose in the muscle, and why/where this process breaks down during disease states such as diabetes.
Dr. Khayat is a founding member of the Toronto Volunteer Bridge, a volunteer networking agency serving young
professionals in the GTA. She also maintains involvement with various initiatives of the Toronto City Summit Alliance
including the TRRA (Toronto Region Research Alliance) and Career Bridge.
Zayna speaks fluently in English, French and Arabic, and resides in Toronto with her husband and 3 children.
